Portrait Lighting Course
The secrets of portrait lighting revealed!
Looking to learn how to take professional portraits?
Looking for a career change?
Looking for marketing ideas to get your portrait business going?
Looking to make your hobby pay?
Or are you already a Photographer looking for fresh ideas?
If the answer to any of the above is yes – then you are in the right place!
Many of our delegates recover their course fee in the first couple of months – we know because they keep in regular contact.
Run in association with The Flash Centre and Elinchrom this course is aimed at everyone who is using Studio Lighting, or would like to, both for business and pleasure.
There is plenty of shooting time to put into practice what you will learn and also time to try something new. Even if you have never seen a studio light before – let alone used one – we guarantee you will leave with some great images and all your questions will be answered!
Techniques covered on this course include;
• Tungsten v Flash
• Anatomy of a Flash Unit
• Using a light meter and taking readings
• Marketing ideas that work!
• Poses that work!
• Portraits with just one flash head
• Portraits with two heads
• Reflector panels
• Softboxes, grids and snoots
• Combining flash with daylight, naturally!
• High Key – lighting a white background made easy (and how to make your fortune with lifestyle images – just like a certain franchise group!)
• The Triflector – why all the fuss?
• The Octa – a unique light bank
And much much more….
Our venue for the course is a beautiful, fully restored, 16th century barn in the village of Lacock (a great place for a "photographic" weekend) near Chippenham in Wiltshire.
Map of Lacock
Lacock is the former home of William Henry Fox Talbot - the inventor of the negative/positive photographic process
Where better to learn a new photographic skill?
The whole village with the exception of 4 buildings is owned and run by The National Trust and is often used for the filming of period dramas including the latest BBC production of "Cranford", many of The Harry Potter movies also used locations around Lacock.
Free parking is available in Lacock very close to the barn. The venue also has good disabled access
Your Course Tutor;
Chris Burfoot AMPA ASWPP ARPS

His annual lectures at Focus on Imaging are always popular and attract some of the largest crowds of the show
