A few words from our customers:

I am a photographer specialising in high end jewellery. The subject matter tests the equipment & optics to their limits.
Six years ago, I was asked to shoot a major catalogue digitally and I investigated all the major vendors of digital systems. Phase One stood out as the only one that combined quality, workflow and flexibility with future-proof upgrade path and Flash centre delivered peace of mind. When it’s your business and livelihood you want to know that you’ve got back up when things go wrong. The Flash centre provided a replacement back within two hours when mine was damaged and Phase One have consistently upgraded the backs and software providing image quality second to none.
Since then I’ve never looked back and I’m now the proud owner of four Phase One systems and wouldn’t trust my business with any other.

Why use a medium format back at all? Its a question I'm often asked as the range of DSLR's constantly grows.
My answer is always the same: quality, plain and simple.
When I shoot a job on both systems I'm always drawn to the Phase for its superior colours and shadow detail. The pace of development has been startling, from the original Phase I've moved to a P25, P30 and now P30+ back.
Five years ago I had to convince clients to go digital, now they expect it to work flawlessly.
With the new P series backs, coupled with an eight gig card, I have a portable platform that is second to none.
For The Apprentice I had to cover individuals, groups and press images within a very tight time frame. The P30+ was the best choice as it allowed me to work quickly and not be tied to a tripod. Another big bonus is its ability to operate at high ISO without noise. It also deals with the issue of moire once and for all, cheap suits are no longer a problem.
The controls are simple and allow you to check exposure and sharpness instantly, which in turn allows you to focus on your subject without distraction.
The speed of workflow is complimented by the Capture One software which has evolved constantly with the backs. Its so useful to able to put all your images, whether from a Phase or DSLR, into one pot. The key ingredient though is its simplicity. I have never read the manual and yet find it completely intuitive to use.
Its this combination of chip technology and software that makes it a very exciting time to be a photographer. We now sadly have few excuses for doing a duff job when the kit available is this good !

As I regularly shoot advertising, editorial and commercial photography for UK and international clients, I turned to digital at a very early stage in 2001 and took to it straight away. Image production time was reduced dramatically and I was able to assess what I was shooting and make decisions very quickly. I no longer had to rely on the lab and could leave at the end of the day knowing I had the pictures in the bag. I was also able to involve my clients more showing them exactly what I was doing on my laptop as I went along which they loved. However there were evident quality issues that meant certain jobs still had to be shot on film. The two main problems being lack of detail in the shadow and highlight areas, and overall image quality still didn't match film. These problems did improve as the leading manufacturers introduced new cameras year by year.

Mid 2006 I started shooting for Getty Images. The quality guidelines were very strict and my concern was that a 35mm based SLR would have a higher risk of rejection, so self funded shoots could potentially go to waste. I looked at all medium format digital options and the Phase One series seemed to be the best option for me by far, marrying quality with usability. The quality of the images was stunning; eliminating all the digital issues I had had previously with 35mm based digital equipment. The software was very easy and simple to use and had some excellent features, which I now use all the time, such as the image overlay facility and the custom effects, giving you various traditional film looks. Phase One also offer a replacement loan back within 24 hours worldwide.

The Flash Centre staff offer excellent friendly support and have answered any queries I have had quickly and accurately. What’s more, since using the Phase One, I am yet to have an image rejected by Getty due to quality issues.

Beginning to use the Phase One system in earnest reaffirmed my long term love affair with medium format photography that began at the start of my career with Hasselblad cameras. For a number of years I'd been shooting all of my digital work using Nikons but I still yearned for the flexibility and quality of the medium format that I had previously been accustomed to. With Phase One I have what I've been missing and it's an ideal tool for my corporate, editorial and landscape work.

As a photographer who now divides his time between commissioned work, leading photographic workshops and teaching in university Phase One lends itself easily to all of my needs. I already have a number of private clients who undertake landscape workshops with this camera and the high quality RAW files generated by the IQ160 back are second to none. During 2011 I helped Ravensbourne College to make the decision to select the Phase One platform for use on the Digital Photography BA  and it is proving highly popular with the students, some of whom will certainly make a point of using it as their principal camera after graduation.

As cameras go I find it a very versatile tool yet I adapted to it surprisingly quickly, almost as if it where second nature. I'm delighted with the way in which Phase have refined the Mamiya 645 body and added to it the superb optics of Schneider lenses. Much of my landscape images are being shot with the 35mm and portraits on the 55mm.

However all of this would be immaterial if it were not for the first class service and customer support provided by The Flash Centre. Alex, Sav and the rest of the team are always prepared to go that little further to answer questions with both the hardware and software. And of course they still help me out with my Elinchrom flash whenever I need it. I'm not hesitating to recommend both Phase & TFC to my clients.
