No 7 - Charlie on Boat
No 7 - Charlie on Boat
Girl on boat portfolio shoot
Skill level ~ intermediate
Shot as part of her portfolio, this picture of Charlie was taken at around 2pm during the summer, and this would normally produce serious problems with a very high contrast and unflattering light quality
By turning Charlie’s face away from the direct sun light, we were able to tackle the first problem of our model squinting, with all of the associated issues of dark eye sockets, raised cheeks and small eyes
The Elinchrom Ranger, (portable light unit), was then used as the main light source on her, with a mini soft dish, and a deflector, attached to the head, this enabled me to take full control of the lighting, quantity, quality and direction
The light was positioned high and slightly to the right of Charlie to produce a contoured look to her face, and to enhance her shapely figure
The direction of the wind was also considered, and the light’s position enabled us to work in harmony with mother-nature, by blowing hair away from her face
Shot on a Canon 1Ds the 70-200mm 2.8L lens was set to 100mm to control the angle of view and perspective. Shot at f16 at 250th
