No 1 - Two Girls
No 1 - Two Girls
Two girls, Multiple colours
Skill level Basic ~ Intermediate
The concept behind this shot of two young girls, was to suggest energy and friendship through colour and composition
We need to be very careful when using such bold colours in our scene, it could detract attention away from your subjects, and your picture could fail
The colours should have some balance and order, and not look too random. Too many colours could also cause problems by becoming a visual mess
The pose is simple but effective, by leaning our models together we are creating a feeling of closeness and friendship, the pyramid shape pose forms a triangle, which is a strong element in any picture
The light was softened by using a Silver California Sun Bounce (large 6ftx4ft reflector) this redirected light back onto them, and lifted the shadows from the predominate light which was descending on them, it also lowered the contrast
The shot was taken later in the day, when the light levels were relatively low
Shot on a Canon 1Ds, the 28-70mm 2.8L lens was set to 70mm. The exposure was F5.6 at 125th the ISO was set to 400
