Lighting FAQ:

Q. Joules and WattSeconds, what do they mean, and whats the difference?

A. First of all 1J (Joule)=1Ws(Watt Second), yep they are different names for the same thing! Because a Joule can also refer to many other measurements of energy, we tend to use Ws when we refer to Flash units. The Ws rating of a Flash unit refers to the amount of energy that is stored in its capacitor(s).
