The Ixus 860IS might not be the top of the range but we've chosen it for it's great balance of features and good price.

At 8MP it's got more than enough resolution for a piont and shoot (that's a 24MB file!). ISO 1600 and image stablisation mean that it'll work really well in low lght without having to blind everyone with flash (avoiding the red-eye too.)

One of the best features is the nice wide angle end of the zoom, it's equivalent to 28mm. It's quite difficult to find that on a compact but we think it's a really usefull thing to have. It'll allow you to get more in the shot without having to walk back further from the subject, great for group shots.
